for the Fairies (1984) - Psychological Thriller fantasy.

When you are young, you're more easily impressed ...
7/10

bloody Greetings readers!. This time I bring a film that terrified me as a child for situations that today are far from creating any impact. In the first instance, the plot has to do with witchcraft. Then, in the grim scene where the grandmother appears in the middle of the dark. And finally, the fact that we never see the faces of adults, much like a caricature of "Muppet Babies." If reference unfortunate and painful, but it was something I always generated curiosity. Why not show the faces of adults?. Now I understand that being a film whose main plot included two infants, one had to see it from their perspective.

Anyway, this is a great film enigmatic maestro Carlos Enrique Taboada. In fact it is the last place to finish his memorable collection of Gothic Horror.

PLOT "Poison for the Fairies" is the story of two girls living in Mexico City, the year is 1965. Veronica is a compulsive liar who tells his best friend Flavia that she, Veronica, is a witch. Flavia is a sweet, innocent girl who believes all that nonsense to your friend. Obviously so scared and frightened himself lives.

Girls should get different objects and materials to create a potion that is known as a poison for the fairies.

This Thriller Focuses psychological situations Veronica attempts to dominate and terrorize Flavia mentally. Go get it but apparently Flavia was not so innocent and naive as it seemed ...

COMMENTS I will be honest. Indeed this movie scared me when I was an innocent child and not perverted. Yes, I spent 2 decades. Today I realize wistfully that children are very easy to impress. The truth is that "Poison for the Fairies" There's nothing scary because they are going the route of the psychological thriller with elements of Horror Films. This is where the film excels but anything we should consider as 100% Terror.

Firstly, if you're a fan of such films, which contain a flirtation with exploitation seventies, that sounds like Do not Deliver Us From Evil / Mais nous ne pas du délivrez
bad you might think "Poison for the Fairies" follows the same line as a very close relationship between the two girls that could border on lesbian overtones, blood pacts, evil rituals, etc.

But no, on this occasion Taboada preferred to give a child touch a dark history that is responsible for displaying the "adventures" of two young girls themselves. The difference lies in the way that girls are having fun because they get to cemeteries, swamps and other places to get the antidote against witches.

The atmosphere is dark enough to tighten the audience and therefore is easier to follow the events leading to this memorable final. But dear readers, keep in mind that this movie definitely fits better in the section Psychological Thrillers. Do not expect stunning visuals, and that instead they will have memorable dialogue and interesting mental situations.

Yet we have scenes that suggest supernatural events and if associated with witches but we understand part of the mind of girls.

The girl "bad" so to say is a deep study of a minor who does not receive attention from their family or their peers, she is a troubled girl who tries to find mental balance in something fictional as witchcraft.

Because the film focuses its main plot in two girls, it is important to have two good young actresses. Ana Patricia Rojo provides a fairly good performance due to changes of attitude that handles perfectly, even looks cold and calculating. He does excellent in a nutshell. The can hate and love. Really I can not understand how this woman never excelled in his career ...

Elsa Maria Gutierrez is not very satisfied with his performance and looks scared all the time. Now that I think is not necessarily a bad thing.

As I said above, this is hardly a horror movie but will be interested to know that you have scenes that may surprise you because they do not expect them.
For example, when Grandma comes amid the darkness usually gave me chills as a child.

The ending is a little shocking and I really would have liked an explanation by the Director. CET took away all their secrets to the grave.

The negative points are related to the somewhat slow pace and some unnecessary scenes. Perhaps from the perspective of two young girls, causing situations are not irrelevant but for a movie of this magnitude seems to me that their behavior and actions are absurd and ridiculous.

Of all the films of the master, this me seems to be the weakest in terms of history and impact. However, I believe that was addressed to an audience of age less than what it used to enjoy their work. And I repeat, from child to frighten me since you played fibers being "innocent" do not know how to handle and therefore generate fear.

Management is subtle and at all times is from the point of view of girls. Taboada directs the moments of history through the eyes of girls. A personal film. The scenes in the cemetery and the house of Veronica I think a clear example of how committed Taboada could always create a specific vibe. Who has been in cemeteries in Mexican towns know what I mean.

Good performance, excellent management, haunting atmosphere and compelling music. To be an effort Mexican Horror Film in the mid 80's, I think it deserves a chance. Also, if you're a fan of the work of master insurance Carlos Enrique Taboada enjoy his latest film.
